Brilliant work Wenznz! Your sewing retreat sounds lovely – and I’m so glad the morsbag idea caught on so well.
Success all round, I agree! π
What a great idea, Cathapple! We have quite a stash as I’m still making at least one bag almost every day. I’ve given some away but there are still plenty left.
They do! They offer willow weaving, silk painting, decopatch, painting on various backgrounds, making/decorating bunting. Last summer during the loom weaving craze they were making all sorts of stuff out of the little elastic bands.
We were there last week making bags with happy campers (made 6 in a morning before the families went to the beach for the afternoon) and at the same time Tanya was helping children decorate strings of battery-operated fairy lights to make a combination of little lights and bunting (very useful in a tent!)

Thank you Butterfly! I was sorry they cut Tanya’s little explanation about the harm plastic bags do in the environment, and as I said, we couldn’t sew on morsbags labels til later – but they didn’t pixillate out my t shirt! π
I think the 250 employees is overall – presumably nationwide, not per branch of the supermarket, or whatever, so it will exempt family-run corner shops but catch chains. Does it apply to hardware, clothing, toys etc? Lots of people I meet just use their own bags for food shopping but don’t take them if they’re going out to look for those sorts of things.
I’m not looking forward to seeing how fat I look!
The producers and I kept moving bags to get the labels covered/ uncovered…. Wonder if they’ll blur the word “morsbags.com” on my t shirt? I wasn’t allowed to get the contestants to sew a label on while they were filming – I added the labels afterwards!
Maybe it feels a bit like cheating to have the bag half done when you start?
At long last, almost a year after filming took place, Channel 4’s listing shows the episode of Three in a Bed that features Coastal Valley Camping and Crafts – and has a minute or so of morsbags-making.
Channel 4, Monday 24th August at 1pm.
I find pillowcases a gift for speedy morsbag making too. I weed out the very worn out ones though…… π
Chop off the top for handles & put them in, add a label, resew the seams = done!
Good luck with the pop-up pillowcase morsbag workshops Offcuts π
Hey Gudrun, I nearly had a fit when I mis-read your post and thought you’d got a (computer) virus on here!! I’m so glad it is only the morsbag-making bug that’s bitten you π with very positive results.
I’m really pleased that you’ve been developing new skills – and the workshops sound very interesting. Well done!! I think WE were lucky that you heard Pol on Woman’s Hour too π
Oh that’s lovely! π
Congratulations Krisaby, and welcome Diane! I’m very pleased for you both π
It’s great to have some company when you sew.Do you know, Scallywagbags ,I thought today would be a great morsbagging day too, but as it turned out, I had to do lots of other stuff instead and am only just now going to sit down and make my daily morsbag (or two).
I’m so glad you managed to find a cosy nook in St.Ives to sit and sew, and hand out bags. If a potential pod in the town needs a little support I’d be happy to help out now and again. (But perhaps with some trepidation in the summer hols, as the traffic jams have been terrible on the A30 today.)
It was, I agree. I wasn’t keeping figures, but I noticed that towards the beginning of the year we were adding around 1000 bags a month, then in September it was more like 1500 per month.
π
Yep, they’re on the list already -
