I try to insist on loose but we still get some and my under stairs is full of plastic bags. I have a vague memory of somewhere they could be sent for recycling. I certainly don’t trust the collection bins in the supermarkets. Several people in the know have told me it just goes to landfill π
I think they were doing them on last weeks Sewing Bee on the dungarees
We sure got a lotsa bits π We’ll have to learn how to do those park and ride seams

Stunning!
Beautiful bags Butterfly! π

Yes I agree it is great. I like the way they have a theme each week, the relevant trips and the music Did you see on fb that the lady from Bobbins and Buttons pod in Leicester is forming a sewing social group called Sew Sociable (name thought of by Butterfly) She has been in contact with Tamara who is going to come and talk to us and set us a challenge and judge it the next month. I have a feeling we shall be bagging her! We are also giving out morsbag kits at some point. Butterfly, Waley and I are very excited! π
When I popped into morsroom today some fabric had been donated by a lady who had had a morsbag through her letterbox. I am going to start again when spring comes!
Well done Butterfly! π
Great news JC and Agwen π
Absolutely and perhaps pass on the message to their families. It might be a good campaign if every school child was to go home and say ‘Lets as a family cut down on the waste/ plastic and recycle’
Offcuts2 use about 1000 every month and all the other pods in Leicestershire are entitled to the sponsored labels so we do get through quite a few. Our problem is fabric because Skopos don’t have offcuts at the moment so we are desperately sourcing fabric.
At the moment I am planning curtains drives and negotiating with a large charity for their unsellable curtains. Mark from Victim Support is running a twitter campaign for us. The Witness and Victim support have 120 of offcuts2’s bags/month – restorative justice. And we have a possible arrangement with Next’s fabric testing dept. So there are a few coals in the fire
but if anyone else has any contacts or ideas for sourcing fabric please post here.- This reply was modified 10 years, 9 months ago by offcuts.
Thank you Ivybags and Beattie. I shall do! π
I have my ideaβ¦β¦β¦β¦..
Ooh I forgot to tell you about Whissybags WI pod in Rutland. They have achieved 2 of the challenges. They have given 42 bags to their village shop to use instead of plastic bags and have an article in their village newsletter. Well done Whissybags! π
Great idea! Does it have to be something different each day?
