OK sorry about that. The fact is though that https://www.flickr.com/photos/butterflybags/13832128235/ is definitely not a link to a Flickr photo – it does not exist it is a 404 page not found – what happens when you click it here on the forum does it take you to the photo? (for us it fails) If it allows you to see it but not us then it suggests that the photo is in some way not allowed to be seen by anyone other than you thus making it set to private in some way.
This forum can only display photos from links that work, please check the link your are trying to paste into this forum in a browser address bar once logged out of Flickr – if it does not work then it also won’t work here in the forum.
I think you pictures are set to private, when I click that link i get a 404 page not available warning – that would be why the forum is not turning it into a photo – it is not allowed to see it – make sure the photo your are trying to paste is set to PUBLIC and not PRIVATE – that’s just my first thoughts on why it isn’t working.
try this… (it’s a youtube video – click the play icon in middle to play it and watch what i do) – music = Faithless!
Once it starts playing move you cursor away from the video to let it show all the video otherwise functions cover top and bottom of video.
(USE THE ICON TO THE RIGHT OF YOUTUBE LOGO AT BOTTOM TO FULL SCREEN – USE ESCAPE TO EXIT FULL SCREEN)I think it is quite hard to put into words without it sounding complicated when really it isn’t once you know how.
Hang around 10 minutes and I’ll paste a video here showing how to do it simply and quickly….Please don’t click the picture to scroll through them or the use the right and left arrows to browse as this adds /in/photostream to the URL. Go to your photo stream and click on the exact thumbnail to make it bigger, and before doing anything else like scrolling left and right through them grab the url – do not not click through to browse! that should work

So what you need to do is log in to Flickr on your mac in any web browser. Navigate to the picture itself so it is the only photo on the screen with some info to the right of it.
In the URL bar at top whilst viewing the picture you will see something like…
flickr.com/photos/butterflybags/13111481384/ (notice how it says photos then your username then a long number that is the photo id)
copy the entire URL address bar then simply paste into the post here and it should do the rest.
Your previous to last failed attempt had ‘/lightbox’ on the end of the URL suggesting to me that you copied the URL too soon before actually navigating to view the actual photo intended itself. In that last attempt it looks like you are doing something similar. You are nearly there! keep trying, we can delete any practices at your request if need be.Hi Butterfly, sorry you are having issues. However I think you are pasting the wrong links I am afraid. The one you last pasted above has ‘/lightbox’ at the end which is wrong – you can’t paste a link to a lightbox (which I believe is a collection of flickr photos) you need to be on the actual single photo itself and grab the link.
The photo that worked was a link like photos/butterflybags/13111481384/ (after all the http and flickr.com parts) so as long as you are pasting something ending like that then it should work!If that all sounds a little complicated – essentially when you are trying to grab the flickr link for the photo, really do make sure you are looking at the singular photo (eg having clicked on a thumbnail to make that photo fill the screen in Flickr and then get the link from the top)
Hope that helps, just shout if any other problems and we can talk you through it in an email or something

Hi Butterfly, Flickr is the one that we mainly support because we also have a morsbags group with many members on it. You should be able to use any site where you can store photographs as Beattie mentions like Picassa, Photobucket, as long as you can paste a link directly to the actual image url (e.g. the link should end in .png .jpg .jpeg .gif etc and is not the page that has the image on and a lot of other stuff around it) then all you do is highlight the URL you pasted and click ‘img’ above where you are typing into and it should work.
This forum supports Flickr a little better and all you have to do is paste the link to the photo page and it should do all the clever stuff to get the direct photo link (no need for highlighting and img tags etc)- This reply was modified 10 years, 8 months ago by Joby.
OK have given the issues seen before a quick fix for now, was something to do with a recent change by wordpress so will report the bug to them and hopefully my fix will work for now. Flickr embedding can cope with photos and videos and to fix it I have hard coded it to just photos for now until an update comes out.
I have removed all comments re the issue and will remove this soon, please don’t refer to this to keep things clean.- This reply was modified 10 years, 9 months ago by Joby.
Sazzie- strange – can you try a different browser? If it works can you let me know which browser did and didn’t work. It looks like is working for others now and what you report seems a new issue.
Hi Krisaby – as mentioned here this is why you are called ladybags…
https://morsbags.com/welcomeIt’s due to us moving to single sign on, so the log ins we had to take were from the pod names not user names.
Also as per here…..My user profile is my old pod site pod name – can I change it?
and here..Please let us know if you would like us to change you from ladybag to Krisaby – it is easy to do.
Also please note if you go to ‘my profile’ you can edit your display name to be whatever you like, this means you can have the nickname of Krisaby that everyone will see but still sign in as Ladybag – however may be easier just to tell us to change your username and we will!Yes agreed, full of great resources. But we need your help to bring anything across to this new forum.
The old forum is chocka full with great bits but due to technical reasons of needing to swap round our user system we could not bring it over easily. Also it was easy to navigate to the great bits if you knew the forum well, but we felt despite a ‘fresh start’ meaning losing great bits, it does mean this new forum can be simple, sharp focussed and fresh for new users. Add in to the mix the phpBB3 was horrendous to admin for spam and general complexity.
The site refresh is all about improving the experience or users old and new and a fresh forum, whilst taking time to build is the best way forward.
We also plan to translate a lot more to the Resources Page ( https://morsbags.com/resources ) from what is found in the old forum.
Please do let us know by email ( admin@morsbags.com ) if you have anything to add or know anything in the old forum you would like to see on the Resources page, or feel free to bring things over to this forum from the old.I’ve added it to the list of things to look at. In the meantime if you need to remove a post then use the edit function to remove the text, we will keep an eye out and delete empty replies in threads.
UPDATE – try now Whetstone – I upgraded your account to Morsbagger/Participant – will be interesting to see if you can now!
Will look into this for all users if this is the case.
ThanksHi Whetstone – I think the clue is under your avatar – you are a member and Rosie seems to be a ‘Morsbagger’ – not sure why the difference – so this may be a clue!
Will keep you posted!
Thanks -
