Glad to hear your input Beattie! I don’t want to upset anyone.
My produce bags wouldn’t be morsbags. I made a batch out of organza on someone’s advice, but I found the food didn’t keep well in them.
Hi Emma,
My thinking is that if we are keeping waste out of the landfill, and saving trees, then it would be a valid use of our fabric and worthy of a Morsbags label. Wonder what the “authorities” have to say.
Thanks for giving me the idea to put some labels on the gift bags I make!
Thanks beattie! I’m still very tired and a little weak, but I’ll be fine. I have MS so I was prepared for it.
The good news is I made 2 new morsbags this week, using some machine embroidered samples left from projects! Probably the first ones in a year so the next ones will be easier. π
Hi Claire Bear! I haven’t been here for a long time but I was shocked that it has been almost 2 years! A lot of distractions going on but things are calmed down now….. Sorry to hear you had so much trouble with the vaccine. I’m surprised your doctor advises having the same one again, but I don’t know anything about it. I’m having my first shot tomorrow.
Hope you are feeling well now – stay safe!
Jean in CanadaGlad I could contribute! Hadn’t been here for months so happy to see more on the topic of labels.
Beattie you do a great job – it’s not always easy to find things here. πYve, you might be interested in this thread where I talk about my embroidered labels.
The rule I was given was that the labels must say Morsbags and they must be durable and washable. Thanks! Glad you reminded me, I have been distracted over the holidays.
“The Space Coast Pod” name gave me a clue. I neglected to do that with my name, it’s just “East Coast Morsbags”. oops π
Goodness, if I had known anyone would want the older labels, which say morsbags.com, I would have saved some of mine to give you! But they are all used now.
My 117 bags have either “morsbags.com” or “morsbags.org”. It doesn’t matter as long as they have one or the other.Welcome lizardart321 π Are you on the Florida coast? I’m further north, on the coast of Nova Scotia.
Beattie I was going to mention that to Kathy but you are able to explain it better than I could. I find that method excellent for the labels from morsbags, and they stitch on easily. I will try some with coloured thread.
My difficulty is with the raw edges of handmade labels – either tedious pressing under edges or zig zag that never looks quite right to me. Embroidering right on the bags before putting the handles on is working well.
Kathy each one is certainly unique, even the ones made with the same fabric turn out slightly different. That’s the beauty of hand made!
Hi Kathy of Earthlings pod, thank you. π
I’m so glad to hear you are also embroidering labels, and I’m not the only one. Can we see a picture? I’m sure your labels look good, and as you say, they get the job done. Mine take a little time to stitch out, but I can walk away. Just need to change thread colour and then trim the extra thread at the end. I’m not very good at sewing the labels on, so that’s why I like to stitch them right on the bags.Morsbags.org and .com seem to be inter-changeable here, but when I saw the ones I ordered were .org, I changed mine.
Guilty of not keeping track from the first day of November, but estimate I made 70 bags during the Sewvember challenge, bringing East Coast Morsbags’ total up to 100!
Thanks Beattie!
Beattie, this link takes you to my East Coast Morsbags album on Google Photos.
