It varies. The supermarkets are selling thicker plastic bags for multiple use for about 15 cents (about 8p) or bag for life type bags for $1 – $5 (53p – Β£2.60) depending on the bag – much cheaper than they were before the bag ban.
There is, of course, a LOT of backlash, but it will settle down once people get into the habit of remembering bags.
I’d better get sewing… πAbsolutely it is a group effort, and we should all be both delighted and excited (and perhaps inspired!)
Oooh I was SO CLOSE to adding the bags to push us over the 300k mark – I think my total update took us to 299,998 haha
I was on a push in January to get bags together for a friend who wanted them for her school fair, but she’s got her lot now and I’m still going – much like running down a hill, quite hard to stop once momentum is up!
WELL DONE everyone, 300,000 is huuuuuuuge!
Hello Whissybags, I wonder if you mean me doing a bag a day in June? I think I follow you on Insta, and I’m definitely trying for at least one bag a day this month. I’m Frogglin over there.
As for social media word spreading, I use the hashtags, and also insert Morsbags into any conversation I can. A friend started a Bag Free June challenge in response to an excellent TV Series over here called “War on Waste” which looked at all the many many bags, coffee cups, food and old clothes we waste every year. I’ve mentioned Morsbags so many times in that Facebook group I’m wondering if she’ll kick me out π
Morsbags have been such a positive in my life. I can’t even begin to express how much I enjoy making them and distributing them.
Actually I probably could begin to express, but I’m overly wordy at the best of times so I’ll just say “Yay!”.
Loved this whole contest – the range of bags and the themes were so much fun to see.
Offcuts, mine are the ukulele bags which caused much glee in the group when they realised they were “allowed” to keep them!
Mine are gone already, and I’ve had to make a couple more for people who went “Aww, I missed out!”
I just tried it again to grab the screenshot and it worked perfectly this time. Possibly my image file was too large, or possibly the planets were aligned properly – who knows? lol. At least it’s working now π
Hrm, did I break it? I filled out the form, attached the photo and left it to submit. When I came back there was a note saying “please do not fiddle the upload”. I.. don’t think I fiddled anything, but I might have…
I’m delighted with my now excellent French Seam skills. (Still can’t set a sleeve though, baby steps… π )
Gudrun! I’m very pleased you’re having such a lovely time π
You know, I’ve wondered myself and never thought to actually find out. lol
As for me, work finally settled down to normal length days (most days) leaving me with any energy at all to get to the sewing machine. This was helped with a phone call from the local Neighbourhood house asking me if I wanted any fabric as they’d found piles of it in a shed.
Did I want the fabric? What a ridiculous question! Lovely stuff – bed sheets, curtains, fabric samples… heaven.
My effort is going to have to be letterboxing – the Powers That Be decided to roster me on work all day. How rude!
Oooh I just had a google and now I want some. Possibly because I enjoy gathering all the “bits” that go with sewing π
