ParticipantAnd off course all the morsbaggers beavering away making bags, masks, ear protectors etc. I did have an interesting email from Public Health Leicester asking if we could make masks for the public waiting in queues at the test centres. It was a bit of a command! I declined passing it on to other morsbaggers in Leics. I thought it was rather a tall order!

ParticipantYou are right Crafty Fox. As Ivybags said there is a lot of activity on social media. I used to know most morsbaggers who posted on here and made some great forever friends. But things change and people come and go. It is the nature of morsbags in a way and keeps things fresh. There is always a lot of work going on behind the scenes though. Ivybags sending out labels, Beattie moderating the website, Joe keeping our details secure and Pol answering a squillion emails and constantly raising the profile of her third baby, I mean morsbags!
The whole history of morsbags will be on the old forum – past competitions, events, photos of bags etc.
I am very proud of you Whissybags. Maggie Ward and I did an event at Leicestershire WI not sure how many years ago, caught that particular virus and the rest is history! You are my baby!!
I am fine, not running a pod or events anymore due to health. I am shielding and planning for bypass next year.
Crafty 🦊 we can meet up if Oadby ever gets out of lockdown! Teashop in Rutland?! Fabulous xx

ParticipantSorry and I have just remembered there is a lady who makes morsbags from a charity shop in Anstey but I am not sure of her name. Lots of potential though!!

ParticipantHi Gemcat. There are some other morsbaggers that I know about in north Leicestershire but they tend to make morsbags at home. However I’m sure it would be an amazing idea to have a get together if you can find a venue. What about the tea shop in Anstey? It begins with a B…. They seem to be very environmentally friendly.
Other morsbaggers in your area are
Sue Neal and her WI in Mountsorrell
Hayley Jackson in Rothley
Helen Smith in Thurmaston
I know these ladies very well and could put them in touch with you if you liked that idea. Sue Neal has morsbag labels sponsored by Mountsorrel Lions. She and her WI make morsbags for the attendees at a Christmas meal organised by the Lions.
If you need any more information or fancy meeting up for a cuppa feel free to email me
Sorry not to have replied sooner. I have been out of sorts!

ParticipantWell done Day Light and thank you Beattie for telling us about them. On the subject of net bags for fruit and veg, I noticed that one of the businesses that donated their waste to the Birmingham Scrapstore have made net bags using their own waste net. It was so refreshing after hearing businesses saying that they didn’t have time to make bags to give away. This company MADE time! They are on the Birmingham Scrapstore Facebook page.
Well done again Day Light pod! xx

ParticipantWowsers to very long lists! I was interested in the Coffee House in the Garden too! Somewhere we would all love to morsbag! Maybe one day! I used to go on road trips to all sorts of pods in my heyday! I loved it!
I like the sound of Moggiepod! There has always been a close affiliation with cats and morsbags!
I have not made any bags for a while although Leicestershire is still buzzing. But what I have realised is a lot of my friends at vintage and craft events have gone plastic bag free after coming across us. I am really proud of that because it shows the power of spreading the word. One such business, Melissa from Simply Vintage appears on the Hacienda tv channel and she said that she didn’t use plastic bags anymore. I reckon their viewing figures are quite high. She also has some fabric for us which will be lovely and vintage! So keep talking I say and thank you to the businesses who have become plastic bag free after talking to a morsbagger!

ParticipantAnd it also shows how important it is for people to register their pod and put their bag numbers on their tallies. Then everyone is part of this amazing campaign. Rosiex

ParticipantLoopy, I think it is to do with forums generally not being as popular as they were 5 or 6 years ago. To be honest we do find Facebook is more immediate for local pods. Bude Baggers, for example built themselves up purely using Facebook. We get a lot of enquiries on Facebook as well. Tori works tirelessly on Facebook for team leicester and Beattie does the same on here. I am proud to have them both as my friends!
