Hi Sue. Sorry you’ve had trouble getting your labels. I’ve emailed Pol and Joe with your query and I hope they’ll be back with an answer soon. Also sorry to hear that the “Contact” link seems to be broken. I hope the labels come quickly for you.
I remember that π Didn’t it stay on show for a long time?!
“The authors collected loyalty cardholder data from one branch of a major grocery chain in California between May 2005 and March 2007.”
They were using data from 8-10 years ago, or the research was done almost that long ago. I do hope the “I’m being virtuous” feeling has worn off, to be replaced by “I’m being normal by using reusable bags.”
Sounds like a fab idea, Wenznz! You may well be able to recruit old or new friends to join you. π
I keep a list of new pods and those pods that add bags to share every month and had just noticed that you’d joined. I’m so glad you came to the forum to say hello!
Did you know that the pod that joined before you is also in NZ? (Te Awa Pod) I’d been wondering if there had been a magazine article or mention somewhere that had sparked interest locally to you.
Enjoy your sewing retreat!! π
I’m pleased you’ve got lots of suitable fabric Janice. I like the brown and blue colours of the bag you photographed above. I’ll bet the nylon material scrunches up nice and small for pockets or handbags. π
In January I decided to try to make at least one bag a day this year, except if we’re away on holiday. I’ve more or less kept to that and only missed a few days so far through being too busy or too tired to make any.
We’ll be doing quite a big handout at the end of July when we go to a vintage vehicles rally and invite people to make themselves a bag on our hand crank machines. People who don’t want to, or don’t want to wait (as a queue tends to build up) will get a pre-made morsbag.
Perhaps this effect wears off when you only use re-usable bags, so no “special treats for a special effort”? What do you think?
Makes a nice excuse though – “I had a Mars bar as I used my morsbag”! Maybe not!
Great Job Mary and Maggie! And thanks for telling us all about it Offcuts. Love the photos of the police officers sewing π
By the way, if you’re sweltering, we had steamy fog here til about 3pm, it cleared to an overcast sky, and though it’s not cold, it hasn’t been glorious sunny weather in our part of Cornwall today. At choir practice this evening someone said they’d had thunder and lightning but no rain.
Or a sealion……
It’s the sort of thing a dog would love to do, maybe?
Gosh, those mice must have had diamond tipped teeth Sazzie! I hope they don’t get at the bags being stockpiled for handing out. π
It’s very windy here as well as sunny and quite warm. Not that hot as we’re near the sea, but it was lovely out weeding in the garden. Might have to water in a few days and that means trotting round with buckets.
I’d love to see a photo of Miss Evie’s costume when it’s done. Will there be a carnival parade? Our village’s is always the first Saturday evening in August and it takes hours to pass through the village as there are three bands that stop to play here and there, and lots of floats have a choreographed routine to perform numerous times as they go around.
I’m sure you’ll all have good fun π
“Big Textile show in September”
Ah-ha! I was wondering if that was on this year…… π
Sounds fab Tracy! Is it as a result of the music festival? I’ve found that if you do one event you often get asked to others. Having a lunch break should give you and any helpers a chance to eat and have a look round yourselves.
Good luck with it, it sounds like a grand day out. πIt sounds wonderful Tracey! I laughed when you listed the “issues” with music festival bagging, particularly the “cranking in time” observation! π
It’s lovely to get the handcranks out again – and they create a lot of interest and nostalgia.
Sorry some of the photos aren’t there….
