Krisaby, I think you can log in, then go to your profile and choose a nickname for yourself. Joe wrote somewhere that this would then show as your name on the forum. Have a go!! πŸ˜€

“Himself” was inspired to make a Christmas bag too. Being a techie type it’s a techie bag!

Of course you can post it on your Facebook page Offcuts πŸ˜€
I’d never made Suffolk puffs before. I discovered that you need to start with a MUCH bigger round of fabric than you think, they end up quite a bit less than half the original diameter. And they don’t work using upholstery fabric πŸ˜• But the ones made of shiny gauzy fabric work really well as stand-ins for glass balls.

I had to scroll through the previous posts to check I’m in the right place!!

Here is my offering. It was surprisingly difficult to photograph. I guess the terrible weather isn’t helping – not a gleam of sunshine for days!

I raked through my mother in law’s button box for some shiny and / or sparkly buttons and found one with “LEGION ETRANGER” on it.

My father in law was in the Navy and my mother in law had been a Wren during the war, but I don’t think there’s any connection to the French Foreign Legion……

“Himself” has made dozens of bags while I’ve been fiddling around with my Christmas competition morsbag! I don’t know where we’ll give them out yet, but I’m sure we’ll be joining in with the handout on 25th January πŸ˜€

If I click on “pod name” and wait, it turns blue and there’s a small downward pointing arrow to the right of it. I wonder if I see it differently as I’m a moderator? (Superpowers…..?) Try it and see what happens?

Whisseybags are listed in the pod list – I sorted it alphabetically by clicking on the arrow next to the “pod name” header on the table, and on the map too. Let us know how you get on πŸ˜€

    Correction – it’s spelled “Whissybags” πŸ˜‰

Welcome Whisseybags!! πŸ˜€ Sounds like you’ll be getting off to a flying start in the new year.

One tip – if the kind soft furnishings-making daughter supplies you with rather thick upholstery fabric you CAN make bags with it, but will get on best if you use thinner fabric (like sheeting, thin cotton curtains etc) for the handles. When you are sewing the handles into the upright position there are places where you are sewing through 11 thicknesses of fabric and if they’re all thick upholstery stuff your sewing machines will struggle and break lots of needles.

    Happy bagging!!

Fantastic!! πŸ˜€ – So long as they’re not being sold (does being given away in return for a donation count as selling Pol?)

Maybe Ivybags would prune the morsbags pool members on Flickr? I noticed some non-morsbags photos appearing in the gallery. Look portuguese/ brazilian?
