I know what you mean about the “in the ear” ones – I think I must have very small ears as they are always too big, and painful to get into my ear canals. Haven’t tried headphones with the radio, but I use them all the time when listening to things on my laptop.
Have a fabulous holiday, Ivybags! Hope you have a lovely time π
The cowboy sewing –
“The Searchers” – cowboy/ western re-enactors were there and performed a number of little playlets that always ended with a shoot-out and almost everyone “dead”.
I think they like the bangs π
My sewing spot
M/C got lucky….
on the tombola stall. He seemed strangely pleased with the dolphin plaque.Various vehicles came and went at random times during the weekend, some stayed an hour or so, some were there for the duration.
There was a fun dog show – the highlight of each day!

There was only one entrant for the dog in fancy dress on Sunday (I was invited to judge it on Saturday and chose the dog dressed as a sheep!) Believe it or not, this is a ladybird.
The prize for best in show – a sack of dogfood
Sunday featured a judo demonstration

And a duck-herding demo – that’s when I became a bollard for a while

What’s that? You want to know how I got a prize in the dog show, without a dog?? The organiser/ judge announced the next category “the best six legs”. He announced it once, twice, three times and nobody stepped forward, so I got up, carried my plastic chair into the ring and paid my Β£1 entry fee. Eventually a couple of dogs and their owners arrived. They had been busy donning matching socks – on themselves and the dogs, so were late joining in. I reckon the garish socks did it – if only I’d had a couple of pairs for my chair I reckon we’d have been in with a chance of first place!! π
Brilliant idea! I like to listen to the radio while I sew but have to have the volume up rather too loud to hear it over the noise of the sewing machine. Headphones are just the answer!! Wish I’d thought of that before….. Thanks Freda and Offcuts!
Please say “thanks” to your father for me – good position for your camera. My son likes to take time lapse photos too – I’ve lost the bookmark I had for the video at Shibuya, an extremely busy crossing in Tokyo.
I’m glad you get enough time to make the occasional bag, Krisaby! Thanks for coming to the forum and leaving nice comments. π Best wishes to you and George XXX
I found another photo, one taken by Tanya on Coastal Valley Camping and Crafts’ facebook page. I’m sure Tanya won’t mind that I’ve copied it here.
The young man in the green t shirt had been making a bag on our oldest machine – the one Masterclock calls “The Clanker” for some reason . I’m rewinding the bobbin – a delicate task on this machine. It only has one bobbin, and that’s a peculiar size, so it makes using it at workshops more of a challenge.
Dartfrog, I’ve just watched the time lapse video – it’s amazingly interesting. I love the way the shadows gently move and the trees are in motion all the time. Fascinating to watch clusters and flows of people, and the crossing guards with their orange lollipops! I’ve never seen them work in pairs before, but I guess this is a wide, busy road and they need to stop the traffic in both directions carefully.
I wondered if you were one of the people passing to and fro? I recognised the avatar on Vimeo and guess you posted it – was it taken from your camera? If so, you have an interesting view. π
“βHello would you like a free re-usable shopping bag?β βNo thank.. did you say free??β. “ π
We get that all the time when out guerilla-ing. Do you get people who hide in doorways and watch, then come back and say they’ve changed their mind and will have a bag after all when they see someone else get one and not have to fill in a questionnaire or buy a lottery ticket, or whatever? And I play “Guess which bag this person will pick” – it nearly always matches what they’re wearing at the time.I can tell you’re excited, but I wouldn’t use the word “overly” – I think “suitably” is appropriate! π
Good news about the hand crank – they’re brilliant for getting attention and mean you can sew wherever (tent, field, garden, an unsold space at a fair) without needing an electricity supply or getting the machine safety tested.
I’m looking forward to hearing more. π
I love the applique on the bag Rita made that you highlighted, Offcuts – what a super design, and great for using up little bits and pieces. It’s gorgeous!
The Barefoot Festival sounds intriguing, I’m pleased it got Sarah P back into “The Morsbagging Way” π
I like the sound of a Pod in a Pub! Very sociable π
Wow, great article Offcuts! I hope Alison likes her morsbags and takes them up – or at least, takes them shopping! π
Hello Dartfrog! Thank you so much for telling us about Hurstbridge Wattle Festival ( http://wattlefestival.org.au/ )and about your bagging there yesterday. It’s fun, isn’t it?
I’m so glad you’ve got another event lined up to repeat the fun π and plenty of time to make more bags. I like the photos of the lovely colourful bags.
I like the sound of a Neighbourhood House – is it available for all sorts of community activities? Sounds like you live in a wonderful community.
π
oooh-hooo! π A surprise, how lovely – I hope!! π
π I’m looking forward to meeting Ruth, Offcuts!
Lovely story Butterfly – we don’t like to chuck out the smaller bits either – and pieced bags are so much more interesting than plain ones, so worth the extra effort! π -
