KeymasterGood luck Lindy Loo! When is the school fayre where you’re giving away morsbags?
I’m sure they will be popular and start the wished-for conversation 😀128 morsbags is great going, and there’s no deadline to reach the target you’re aiming for – it’s all good!

KeymasterCongratulations, jen_wren9, you’ve made your first bag! 🙂
I hope you use it – or give it away – with pride.
I found it took ages to make my first morsbag, (I couldn’t see how to attach the handles at first) but practice makes it easier and any functional bag is a success.
I love turning waste material into something useful. Good luck with subsequent morsbags 🙂beattie
KeymasterThat’s fab news, Ivybags!
I’ve just authorised four new pods that have registered since this time yesterday and they all sound eager to get started. 😀

KeymasterThat’s brilliant Suzanne! Community Fridges are a great idea and even better combined with morsbags 😀
Is it complicated to set up and run?beattie
KeymasterThat’s fantastic Lindyloo! Preparation will make it all go with a swing. 😀

KeymasterThat’s fantastic Hetty! Great work – and think of all that fabric saved from landfill as well as plastic NOT used! 😀
I call 1000 bags “One Kilomors”.beattie
KeymasterI’ve had a little look around, and you could try this to change your pod name.
Log in and click on “Pods”
“View My Pods”
Select “Edit pod details”
then you should have boxes where you can change the pod name, location, and describe your pod.
Don’t forget to save your changes.Hope this works for you.

KeymasterHi Woolserywi! I know that changing your pod’s name must be possible as I think I’ve seen it happen before.
I’ll ask admin@morsbags.com on your behalf – or you could have a poke around and see if it’s an option available under “Edit pod details” or similar location.
Another option would be to start a new pod. Good job on spreading the word round the WIs though 😀

KeymasterHow exciting Elaine! Go Crafty Owls 😀

KeymasterGreat job Linda! People who are given a free bag want to give something back to you. As we’re not allowed to take money, they contribute (very generously) by donating unwanted fabrics. As a single duvet cover will usually make 9 morsbags, fabric supply often looks after itself and all those duvet covers, pillowcases and curtains are saved from landfill.
It’s one of the things I just LOVE about morsbags! 😀

KeymasterLooking things up for my post above, I think that door may already be open. CPR Foodbank have a post on facebook thanking a sewist in Portreath for their reusable cloth bags.
There we go!! 🙂beattie
KeymasterThe fabric donation point in St Agnes was at the Fruit & veg shop at the other end of the village to the Spar shop.
The food bank donation basket you mention supplies a different, independent, food bank to the one I approached – CPR food bank (Camborne Pool Redruth). It’s a bit further away than the Truro one, which is run by the Trussell Trust, the BIG sponsor / organiser of many food banks across the country.

KeymasterI offered our local-ish food bank morsbags to use instead of plastic bags from supermarkets but was told “No thanks” because they didn’t want the users of the food banks to feel “different” or “stigmatised” by being given different bags. 🙁
That WAS quite a few years ago – maybe they’d feel differently now as cloth bags have become more mainstream?
We do have quite a few bags that we haven’t been able to give away due to covid, so perhaps I’ll see if they would like some now.beattie
KeymasterI think you’re right about food banks and community fridges being busy – even busier than before, in the foreseeable future.
Did you know that the first community fridge in the UK was set up in Frome, Somerset in 2016?

KeymasterThat’s brilliant Ivybags! Did you know we have a morsbags pod associated with a food bank – in Canterbury.
On the same theme, I’ve just authorised a new pod for Swansea Community Fridge, a similar idea to a food bank but saving fresh food from landfill and run to benefit anyone in need.
