It was that photo of you both in Offcuts’ workshop that I remembered, Butterfly. It’s lovely! Hasn’t Tiernan grown up! Love the Spiderman outfit π
Great work Tiernan – I think you should be proud of your first morsbag, you sewed it really well and it looks fab. What will you use it for or will you give it away?
How fabulous Butterfly! I remember when you joined morsbags and Tiernan was tiny. Was he about a year old then? How time flies! π He deserves to be proud of himself and his morsbag – and you did a great job showing him how.
I’m looking forward to seeing the photo.
That’s good news, I’m sure your local foodbank would be delighted to have morsbags to use instead of plastic bags.
Hi dmbags! I’m pleased to hear that you intend to make up the fabric you’ve collected. For me it’s one of the great things about morsbags that we take stuff that would have been thrown away and make it useful again. π
I will be giving away bags on 8th May at a street festival in a village near me, but are you really sure that you want to post them? It might be quite expensive. I’m absolutely amazed that no market stalls or independent shops near you will give away free bags – usually they are only too keen to take as many as possible.
Other places that morsbaggers use to distribute bags are charity book sales (think local church halls….), local offices – good for people to borrow a bag for a lunch run or little bit of lunchtime shopping, and if they want to keep the bag that’s fine. I recently distributed about 60 bags in a local car park – I just hung them on wing mirrors and tucked them under door handles.
Just before Christmas one year we needed the space in our spare bedroom and had to get rid of lots of bags fast, so we went to a local housing estate and pushed a bag through every letter box. It took an afternoon, but I still see people in that area using their morsbags.
The original concept for distributing bags is “guerrilla bagging” – could you get together with a friend or two and give them away at your local shops? It’s quite legal to give people presents in the street! π
I hope you manage to find someone to help with distribution – maybe a morsbagger (or a friend or relative of one) will be visiting your area (East Yorkshire) some time? Fingers crossed!
I edited the second and third posts to read what you see above. I was sure I’d only hit the “submit” button once!
Double post – how did that happen?

Today was handout day! I had considered giving bags out at the festival in Redruth (celebrating St.Piran’s Day) where I was singing with my choir. But I was offered a lift and accepted as we were expecting the town (and its car parks) to be very busy. So I got to our rendezvous and bagged cars there instead. I managed to hang about 50 bags on wing mirrors and tucked into door handles before I ran out of time.
Rain came on a couple of hours later, I hope the recipients don’t think “What is this wet rag?” and throw them away. π
I’ve just authorised Rags to Bags, so that makes 3 new Leics pods in a few days! π
In the end I didn’t manage to sew this morning after all, but I made 5 bags this evening after I got home and cooked dinner.
That’s lovely fabric you’ve been using Jen – and a dramatic contrast to the black back with a flash of the patterned stuff. Nice π
Good work Butterfly!
Hi! I’ve been inspired by the posts above and will try to fit in a little sewing this morning before we go out.
Well done Macs Bags, well done Keavie, well done Louise!
Looking forward to hearing from you again soon JenMeister & Offcuts.I can’t make competition bags as I don’t have the material I need yet. Might have to have some time off to visit charity shops….
I don’t think we’re in the running here. There are two of us vs numerous members of Offcuts and Harborough Hit Bags, and we’re working flat out on something else for at least the next month. Then we’re due a long-awaited holiday. Good luck to you though! π
I have plenty of kits but not much time to sew. If all goes to plan I’ll be able to run up a couple of bags, probably in the evening.
Congratulations to all three pods! π We’ve been sitting at position 2 for a long time and have been expecting to be overtaken any time now……. We’ve been very busy with a project so not been making many morsbags recently. Well done, everyone – those are big numbers!
Double celebration required! Welcome to both new pods – and the others that have joined recently π
