I see you finished your first bag, Sue. π Congratulations! How did you get on with your new sewing machine? I hope it worked OK for you. Well done for getting going.
Welcome Sue! Thanks for letting us know how you’re getting on. I’m sure you’ll be able to meet your goal for Christmas 2020 (what great forward planning π ). I hope you like getting to know your new sewing machine as well. Making morsbags is a great project to get to know the basics of using your sewing machine.
Hi Agwen! Thanks for your news – and many congratulations on reaching a very significant milestone! I’m glad so many of you were able to go on the celebratory trip to Abergavenny. Combined with a little light guerrilla bagging and some lunch it seems like the perfect mors-trip. π
Congratulations to all members of the pod!
Thank you Agwen! I enjoy so many inventive names for pods too π
Quiltdyer, thank you. Consider your post Liked! π
Thanks quiltdyer! That was a very helpful link. I thought there was more chat about labels but failed to find it! DOHH!
I absolutely agree with you Sandra – I have also made thousands of morsbags out of all sorts of fabrics.
The reason I said that small produce bags didn’t count as morsbags is because, as I wrote above –
“Additionally, it needs to be fit for its purpose, and the original purpose intended was to replace a plastic carrier (tote) bag. It therefore needed to be strong enough to carry your shopping.”Produce bags are sized to carry a couple of handfuls of mushrooms, or some apples, for example, and not weigh too much so that you’re paying apple or mushroom prices for the weight of your own bag.
I’ve made morsbags out of lovely samples of net and voile, quite thin, definitely polyester, but sized to take a big bagful of shopping. They counted as morsbags because they met the principles above.
I would say yes, people have done the same in the past. Some sophisticated sewing / embroidery machines will scan images and there are .rtf files available on this website under βResourcesβ

I’m hoping we’ve reached “Critical Mass”, Tori – in a good way!
You certainly made some challenging trips Rosie! I remember accosting you in the main street of our village, thinking you looked as if you might be a fellow morsbagger! (I had also replied to your enquiries about accommodation, so I did have a few clues .. π )
It’s so good to see that morsbags are at the front of the no-plastic revolution, and talking is the key to spreading the word and raising awareness, as you say.
Good work, everyone, however you make your contribution.
Hi there, Ladysilvernight! Thanks for your question. Getting more reusable bags into peoples’ hands is what it’s all about.
I see no problem with you giving fabric bags to your customers. To qualify as morsbags they need to –
1) be made out of repurposed or recycled fabric – pieces left over from projects are fine
2) be given away free of charge
3) have a morsbags label on each oneWould it be OK with you if I post a link to your question on morsbags’ facebook page to gather more peoples’ thoughts?

Hi Ann, thanks for your offer. I’m away from home at the moment so can’t look it up just now.
If you look under “Pods” you’ll see a map that marks every pod ever registered. Zoom in on Reading and you’ll find several in the area. Bear in mind that morsbags has been going for twelve years so pods may have come and gone, but you will be able to send pods that have chosen to be communicated with a message.
Hope this helps, back in a day or so to help if necessary!
Never mind Dartfrog, it’s a group effort! Everyone who’s ever made a morsbag contributes to the total, so we’re all winners!
I notice that I didn’t give the running total of morsbags ever made in my stats! At the end of January the global total stood at 306019! WOW!
You make a good point about the next month being shorter, Pol! I’ve noticed an increase in the number of morsbags added to the tally after spikes in new pod registrations.
I think if we keep up the effort there may be an increase in all numbers in March. Getting them in February would be a bonus π
PS, sorry about keeping you on tenterhooks. Our phone line climbs quite a distance through a little wood and the trees have been waving around all day, our broadband coming and going….. π
