Sazzie, I saw your post on fb. It worked really well for us. Butterfly did it for her friends and I did a general offer for our Facebook followers with the idea of them bagging their work colleagues. I think it is a good way for get to different groups of people. Our new Leics pod Bobbins n Buttons has a wide following on Facebook and she is reaching lots of new people too. We are also redirecting to the website as well.

Love the cafe idea, Pol. Good for doggie owners!

We only have a few bags as I’ve been busy making wedding invitations and we gave out HUNDREDS last month, but I’ll head out and do a little guerilla-ing in the morning. 🙂 Hope it’s not too wet!

Well, we did our handout this morning.

The theme was to think environmental, and do it all on foot, walk there and give the bags to walkers. The weather was quite nice for a change so we decided to do the Beacon, always walkers there we thought.

Wrong. We got to the top and only managed to give away one bag en route, and that to someone admiring the view from a car.

There was the “Old Man of the Beacon”. We could see him dodging about at the summit as we toiled up, but he had vanished, of course, when we got there. After a ceremonial pic we headed, still bagful, down to the village only to spot the Old Man of the Beacon again.

Beattie set off in hot persuit while I admired the view to the north. Was that distant glow from some initiative by the Leicester group, or merely the northern lights?

Needless to say, The Old man of the Beacon effortlessly lost Beattie and we entered the village by hidden ways, bag laden and in increasing desperation.

Here Beattie was proved right, there were still people in need of a bag. Some even had old Morsbags with them, in the wild!

Eventually, bagfree, we had a tea (traditional, with cream cake) with the local sea conservation group fund raisers. We found one of them had been nobbled in “The Great village bag hand for Christmas” a year or two back.

    We did our bit.

We were lucky with the weather this morning. Boots were needed, but we climbed our local “high point”, bearing bags to give away.

Is that the OMotB? No, he’s gone round the corner. The glow from the fleshpots of Leicester is a little to my right – and a long way over the horizon…..

Back in Aggie, we found plenty of customers for our bags around the shops and in the car park.

    Here's one I had earlier...

This lady was one of several who could reach into their boot/ pocket/ basket and flourish the morsbag they’ve been using for years….

I thought the local Marine Conservation Group’s coffee morning was a good place to stop for a cuppa. I discovered that the lady on the book stall had had a morsbag popped through her letterbox *gasp* can it be that long ago – just before Christmas 2011!

She says she now has a sewing machine and some fabric and had been intending to make some morsbags. 😀 Great timing, as my invitation to people to sit down and make some bags – with my assistance if required – comes out in the local advertising mag any day now.

Well done Beattie and M/C. And you found people with wild morsbags, so how good was that! Altogether it sounds to have been one of those intrepid Morsbagger specials and a great success.
Sorry Sazzie has been too ill get out.
I have bags piled up but they are for the Methodist Church book sale on 28 March so had none to spare.
I enjoyed those rural pictures taken during the bagging. There’s no doubt you get much more feel for what has been involved if there are pictures to illustrate the event.

Lovely updates Masterclock and Beattie – Beattie you look so chic in that hat! Absolutely love the fact that you spotted wild morsbags; just shows that a) you’re a wonderful pod and b) how well made your morsbags are that they last so long 🙂

Hope lots of morsbags are enjoying their first taste of freedom out in the wild tonight…

Good luck with the book sale later in March Krisaby

Well done Beattie and M/C Great work. Maybe you’ll nab the Old Man of The Beacon next time! Yes I think that is the hotspot that is Leicester, pleased that you can see us!

We only managed to bag Waley’s vintage shop today. Caroline the proprietor gives away bags to her customers. She is getting very busy now. We bought a china cabinet. They had run out of morsbags so I gave her 6 that were in the car.

Ooh I forgot to tell you about Whissybags WI pod in Rutland. They have achieved 2 of the challenges. They have given 42 bags to their village shop to use instead of plastic bags and have an article in their village newsletter. Well done Whissybags! 🙂

I forgot to update… I gave away 11 bags last week. I’ve only made 39 total but I’ve been able to find homes for all but the 4 that I keep for my own use. And, next week, I hope to pick up some fabric a friend offered. Yay!
