Hello everyone, just wanted to spread the word about an event I’ve been invited to attend in Leicester on Saturday 22nd April as part of the Leicester Textiles Festival.

We will be doing a ‘pop up morsbags shop’ at the LCB Depot, myself (Whetstone Whales) and Sue (so mrs bag) will be there all day handing out bags, kits, demonstrating how to make a bag on our vintage hand crank machines and spreading the word about morsbags. Believe it or not there are still a few people in Leicester who haven’t heard about us!

It would be great for any local morsbag makers or anyone interested in what we do to come along, there are lots of other activities going on too…..

    Saturday 22nd April 2023
    FREE event open to all!
Promoting community, sustainability and the art of making.

    Textile Swap
Got any fabric, balls of yarn, thread, haberdashery, patterns or other textile
related craft items, kits or books that you no longer use? Bring items to swap and get tickets to exchange for something different!

    Make Do & Mend
Drop in with items that need mending or upcycling for advice and tips.

    Skill Share
Drop-in sessions to learn from local artisans new textiles skills, such as how to use a sewing machine, weaving, yarn-bombing, simple embroidery, and knitting and crochet.

Net Good City with Morsbags will be joining us, turning unwanted material destined for landfill into free shopping bags!

    Clothes Swap
Do you want to refresh/re-energise your wardrobe for free?
Tired of looking at clothes you never wear?
Want to make more sustainable choices in what you wear?
The Spring clothes swap event is just what you need….and it needs you!
Simply bring up to 10 items (clothes, shoes, accessories) and get swapping!

All items should be clean, size labelled if needed and in good wearable condition.
Local Fashion Extraordinaire @cathirae will be offering FREE styling advice on the day to help you get the most from your new wardrobe!

NEW! There will also be a baby and children’s clothes section to kit out your kids!

Any items leftover will be donated to the DAPP and Sue Ryder charities.

If you would like to drop-off items for the textiles or clothes swaps, this can be done on the event day Saturday 22ndApril or at LCB Depot 5.30-7.30pm on Friday 21st April.
