From Thursday 25 November 2021 until Saturday 27 November, SodburyBags will be at the Christmas Fair organised by Craft4Crafters at Shepton Mallett. We will have machines at the ready to help anyone make themselves a bag and we will also be handing out pre made bags. The event runs from 10am until 5pm each day. Any offers of help welcome! Contact us via our pod – Sodbury Bags.
September 27, 2021 at 4:09 pm #52130Sounds fantastic Jacki! Sorry I won’t be there, but have a great time.
September 28, 2021 at 3:03 pm #52241Thats excellent Jacki
I remember being at Craft4Crafters at Westpoint a few years ago. We were always very busy. We made up lots of kits beforehand, and rarely had any kits or finished bags left.Good luck, have fun – sorry its a bit far for me
September 29, 2021 at 2:51 pm #52320Ivybags’ comment has jogged my memory –
I’d suggest that you don’t try to iron bags-in-the-making on the stall, have ironed kits ready to sew. Hot surfaces and “The Public” not a great idea, and it’s time consuming.
Enjoy! 😀
September 29, 2021 at 3:43 pm #52326Thanks Everyone. We don’t use an iron – we have stones! Nice big round heavy stones. Great for pressing. Handles are premade in most cases and machines are PAT tested and ready to go. Just need plenty of advertising.
September 29, 2021 at 4:01 pm #52328Stones! Great idea, why didn’t we think of that!
Line of Pritt Stick type glue down the back of the label to hold it in place while you sew it on?
Sounds like you’re all ready to go, Jacki, thumbs up!
September 29, 2021 at 4:58 pm #52335Oh dear. Are they supposed to be straight!! Seriously, we generally do it by eye from the line of stitching around the top and use handle position to centre. Maybe we wouldn’t pass quality control….
November 29, 2021 at 3:55 pm #57178How did the Christmas Fair go, Jacki? I hope your tent wasn’t swept away in the winter gales and torrential rain last weekend.
November 29, 2021 at 7:36 pm #57197Hello Beatie. We had a lovely time at Shepton Mallet despite a bit of snow. Fortunately not in a tent but probably just as cold! Many bags given and lots of people took up the opportunity of making their own with precuts. The best part of the event was the way children responded – making their own bag and knowing that they had made a start to reduce the plastic in the world. We are now planning children’s events nearer to home to keep costs down but as a first event it was great.
November 30, 2021 at 8:50 am #57239It is lovely and so rewarding to see children learning to sew. An ideal way to learn
November 30, 2021 at 5:00 pm #57266That’s great to hear Jacki. I’m so pleased you had fun, with lots of sewing and enthusiasm on all sides 😀
February 26, 2022 at 12:02 pm #63273Rarely had any kits or finished bags left.
February 26, 2022 at 12:57 pm #63289Hello Lizzi. Do you mean us at Shepton or generally. We brought kits back then had another workshop at home. The bags not given out were also taken home and distributed around several shops in Chipping Sodbury where we are based. Do contact us on Sodburybags Pod if you need any information. We have now made and distributed about 870 bags and love doing it. Regards, Jacki
