OOOOOh M/c I think that would be a good challenge to the Bude Baggers who do a lot of beachcombing. I am sure they would find enough string in their hoard.

Aren’t those bags a joy? It is interesting that the voile is so strong. I have never used it on its own but used it to cover another fabric on the assumption it wouldn’t be strong enough on its own. I have only once been given sample fabrics from a book and had a lovely time making bags but the samples were of curtain fabric and so very easy to handle. I thought yours wonderfully exotic Beattie.

So glad you put up Cathapple and Co’s necklace Offcuts. It is such a good idea and I have been watching the progress on fb. She is quite a goer is Cathapple and managed to entice people to a general bottle-top wash and hole drilling session. Then they threaded their tops collection on string to be joined to the huge chain. Watching their progress made riveting reading. All this and there is the added pleasure of seeing what the dogs are getting up to!
Which reminds me – if you are reading this Offcuts – time for some more pictures of Bo Jangles and his entourage I think. It would be grand if you can find the time. Please.

I can see you have a problem here Cushion Lady. Will this cardigan still fit your granddaughter or do you hope another granddaughter will turn up and you can finish it for her? These last three bags are going to cause trouble, I can feel it in my bones. Do you know anyone with a cat? You could invite it in and let it loose on the wool and then you can discard the projects as mission impossible.

Good for her! I must say, the bags do look splendid. It’s funny how the boring fabric can suddenly pile up and demand attention. I am doing the same as Beattie just now and putting some applique on dull bags. I am rather lucky here as my neighbour is doing some complicated quilting and is very fussy. I have been getting the rejects to put on my bags! I have got some very pretty material which I am slipping between the less pretty to give myself a treat every few bags.

Good for you Cushion Lady. You are doing well. Keep that up and you will have a pile of empty bags by Easter and will be able to build up another collection of projects. It sounds good fun to me! Keep us posted of your progress please!

I should think it is fun to change your curtains quite often but I am too lazy! I love the fact that you were admiring curtain fabric that you already have in store at home. I could do that. Thank goodness you didn’t buy a second lot.
M/c – a walking foot is a bit Heath-Robinson now you come to mention it. I hadn’t thought of the round-and-round idea – it would take an engineer to think of that. I will hold that piece of knowledge in case I have an opportunity to say casually one day “of course the usual foot has a zero pace”.

Cushion lady I pity you with the curtain making. I used to make ours in days of yore and, as you say, what a deeply boring job it could be. They go on for ever don’t they? Do you make curtains for other people? Or have you got a house with lots of windows? Or do you just like changing your curtains?

Another lovely idea carried off beautifully! The recipients of those bags of goodies will feel a warm glow. What a great surprise when you are practically at your wits end to have your food presented in a pretty and useful bag. They will be so greatly appreciated. Well done you and your brilliant team!
