It’s carnival week here in Halsall, and we’re all very excited as this years theme is circus! miss Evie is a ringmaster and I’ve been busy making her costume (still a work in progress) …. Whilst I was searching for red fabric to make her tailcoat I came across some part finished bags…. And this morning I finished them, 17 of them 🙂
I needed a break from cutting out bunting triangles and it’s far too hot to be gardening so morsbagging won…. Back to cutting out bunting triangles now…..
Fingers crossed for good weather on Saturday, we even have a fly past by a spitfire …..
I love the idea of giving away morsbags at school events as Butterfly bags has done, if I start making them in September I could stockpile some ready for next July…… Sadly the majority of my morsbags fabric stash was destroyed by a family of mice during the winter months, they even got through the plastic tubs it was stored in, and don’t ask me what they did to my parasol ….

It’s scary what the odd rodent can do to carefully stored fabric. Had a stored tent once where they got at a fold. Sort of a “Tear along the perforations effect”. Hopeless to repair if you wanted the water to stay out.

Gosh, those mice must have had diamond tipped teeth Sazzie! I hope they don’t get at the bags being stockpiled for handing out. 😕

It’s very windy here as well as sunny and quite warm. Not that hot as we’re near the sea, but it was lovely out weeding in the garden. Might have to water in a few days and that means trotting round with buckets.

I’d love to see a photo of Miss Evie’s costume when it’s done. Will there be a carnival parade? Our village’s is always the first Saturday evening in August and it takes hours to pass through the village as there are three bands that stop to play here and there, and lots of floats have a choreographed routine to perform numerous times as they go around.

I’m sure you’ll all have good fun 😀

It’s the sort of thing a dog would love to do, maybe?

By the way, if you’re sweltering, we had steamy fog here til about 3pm, it cleared to an overcast sky, and though it’s not cold, it hasn’t been glorious sunny weather in our part of Cornwall today. At choir practice this evening someone said they’d had thunder and lightning but no rain.
