Did you know that last Wednesday was nominated as “Upcycling Day” by Gumtree? Nor did I, but clued-up Tanya at Coastal Valley Camp and Crafts near Newquay did, and organised an upcycling weekend to celebrate it.
Yesterday there were three workshops held back-to-back in her lovely crafting marquee, and today we were there helping campers and visitors to make themselves a morsbag while Zena was doing a “Make a fabric tea light holder” workshop. I was a bit worried about fire hazards, but fear not, the holders were made to hold a little electronic tealight powered by a tiny battery and an LED. Suitable for use in tents, camper vans and anywhere you’d like a little extra soft romantic light.
We had a wettish morning that produced a steady stream of customers and at one point had all five hand cranks in use. This was our first bagger of the day –
A couple of delightful sisters (aged 10 & 11) came and sewed with us, but – first time ever – when I asked if a photo would be OK, Mum said no.
This lady was very pleased with her Dennis the Menace bag, and she’d never sewn anything before.
Tanya and Andy provided the tea and we managed to resist the cakes today.
We made 12 bags and had a pleasant morning and lunchtime. By that time the weather was clearing nicely and the campers went off to take a walk, go surfing or go home!

What a lovely report and pictures! It sounded a very interesting event and it was so good you were there to spread the morsbags word. It is amazing where you get to.
If you have access to Facebook you can see more of what Coastal Valley Camping get up to besides Morsbags. We enjoy our events there but are only a very minor part of their activities.
