I may be going a bit quiet on the morsbag front for a while – I’ve offered my help with making carnival costumes for the staff and children at Miss Evie’s nursery – this years theme is ‘under the sea’ (how could I to offer to help), so in between sewing Miss Evie’s summer wardrobe I’ll be attempting mermaids, octopus, fish and scuba divers etc….
I have morsbags to thank though as if I hadn’t heard bout morsbags I probably wouldn’t have found my sewing mojo. 🙂It should read (how could I not offer to help) – couldn’t figure out how to edit
Wow Sazzie! What fun!! Can’t wait to see the photos! Let me know if you need any embroidery! Your work in the fancy dress shop will help. Bet the nursery won’t believe their luck and may have already been on the blower to Evie’s new school! ‘We have a sewer!’
I used to make costumes for the school play when I was a school matron, including dresses for boys in the Gilbert and Sullivans and embroidered loin cloths, underpants dyed with tea (to preserve their modesty) for a native american play that involved about 20 different tribes. Each of the loin cloths had a different embroidery (e.g a cactus)

Is not until 5th July – Im going to attempt a mermaid this week

We’ve had a great day at the carnival today….. Miss Evie was a mermaid without a tail, (just a green / blue tutu), the weather was fantastic all afternoon and a great day was had by all (despite the bar selling out of Pimms).
In the end I only made Evie’s costume as I’ve had another stint in hospital recently so I was spared that task. I did however help paint the boards for the carnival flat with one of the other mums and I have the suntan to prove it.
Everything is a bit mad here over the next couple of weeks with end of term things at nursery… Hoping to back to the bag making soon 🙂Float not flat!
