I missed making a note of the total number of bags made in September (silly me!), but this evening I sat down and added them all up. The total is really rather amazing.
In September, thirty-one pods made 3422 bags. Wow!! I think that quite a few of those were actually made by Offcuts2 during August but only counted in September after the school holidays were over. But it’s still a remarkably large total. 😀 Well done everyone who made a bag or bags last month.
The thirty-one pods are –
Footpod
ColBags
Te Awa Pod
Greenbags
Bude Baggers
Cuckoobird
Longridgebagmaker
South Gwent Pod
Tonia’s Sewing patch
Morsbag Meisters
Olden-Bags
Offcuts
Wundertuete
Bagistas
Offcuts2
Salt Line Studio
Greener Sawston
swindon stitch social
morsbags-in-lindow
icejan
Welly Fabric Hoarders
Torti
Macs Bags
Whissybags
Ladybag
bobbinsnbutton
Bagseythats
Kittybags
Ostholstein
Norfolk Knitters and Stitchers
ECOBAGSWe have six new pods that registered in September. They are –
Tonia’s Sewing patch
Waitrose215
Totes Sharalee
morsbags-in-lindow
Holifield home bags
South Bucks BagsDouble congratulations to the two pods who are new AND have made bags in their first month!! Brilliant 😀
There were a few interesting snippets in the pod updates this month.
ColBags writes
“Over 80 bags given away at the Colchester Seafood and Slow Food Festival on Sat – Sun 5-6th Sept in Castle Park, Colchester. 11 made by new converts, Marjorie and her wonderful daughter Elsbeth (?). Fabric always gratefully received”Another Waitrose store now has a pod –
Waitrose215 – which is in Finchley, North London, where I went to school and where Masterclock was living when I first met him – decades ago…..Greener Sawston writes
“A pod which was inspired by a desire by the Greener Sawston group to encourage Sawston to be plastic bag free. We are planning our next bag give away around the introduction of charging for plastic bags, although unfortunately it appears that no Sawston shops will be affected… Next Community bag day on Friday 23rd October.”Presumably the shops in Sawston employ fewer than 250 people – no big chains.
Holifield home bags write “We are a day service for adults with learning disabilities based on an echo farm.”
I don’t know what an echo farm is – do you suppose it should read “eco”?
All that adds up to a Super September – keep sewing everyone 😀
Anyway,
October 8, 2015 at 5:23 pm #4967Wow that is an amazing total. Yes quite a few of them might be offcuts2. Two months worth from them because we didn’t meet in august to count them.
Offcuts2 have a new name now – Trusty Bags. Their choice! They have settled back down to 200 a week now. A manageable number to find homes for.
Today 200 went to Billesden annual farmer’s market. They are east Leics and first time they have had any morsbags. I would like them to start their own pod as it is a little villages with a village shop and a community centre. Perfect!
50 went to an apple press day in Dunton Bassett which is south west Leics and a new area for us to supply
And 60 went to our hosts Brocks Hill Visitor Centre who had 60 for a food fair.
Thank you Beattie for the stats. I am always interested to see who is making bags but I am very nosy!
October 8, 2015 at 7:46 pm #4969I like to see who else is making bags too! You don’t feel you’re doing this on your own when you see a list of dozens of pods who are also making morsbags and giving them away wherever they are.
I saw that O2 had a new name – and why not?? 😀
Good work on finding more new outlets for beautiful shiny morsbags for new recipients!
