We were all very pleased to find out that the high courts had ruled that the Richard III remains are to be interred in Leicester Cathedral next spring. There has been a brand new visitor centre which is in a building opposite the cathedral. Sir Peter Soulsby, city mayor elect has been very involved with the project and when I met him at the beginning of the year he invited us to hold a morsbag event there especially as it would involve royal fabric donated by Prince Charles! Since then I have had quite a few meetings and crossed a few palms with morsbags as I do! The upshot is Team Leicestershire will be showing the public how to make morsbags using royal fabric kits on saturday 25th August in the new visitor centre. Yaay!! Can’t wait! ‘citing!! 🙂
July 16, 2014 at 10:19 pm #2763That IS exciting Offcuts! 😀 Could you just confirm the date though? According to my diary, 25th August is Bank Holiday Monday this year…..
Your Royal bagging event could be either Saturday 23rd August or Monday 25th.July 17, 2014 at 8:42 am #2765Wow Offcuts- you never cease to amaze me with you wonderful Morsbagging events.

July 21, 2014 at 7:20 pm #2794I am busy organising Team Leicester of this event. if anyone would like to come along let me know. We are taking 8 brothers, 4+4 morsbag coaches, 2+2 morsbag informers and me floating around. Everyone will be doing a 3 hour shift and also be able to have a good look at the exhibition and try out the cafe off course! All the Brothers are being dropped of with Steve for servicing on saturday. I shall also try to see if the manager and myself can go on Rupal’s radio show. “citing!

July 26, 2014 at 11:15 pm #2827It has to be organised Beattie, but I did start early. We started preparing the royal kits in January! I always planned to have 100 royal kits for this event but only have 50! The events manager is more than happy with that and we are saying the first 50 people will have the chance to make a royal kit and after that they will have a lovely non-royal kit and that will be fine. Allowing for the republicans, 50 will probably be just right! We are so lucky to have such an amazing team and nothing is too much trouble for them.
The centre opened today and everyone is raving about it. Can’t wait to see it when Graham is on his leave.
August 22, 2014 at 8:50 pm #2969this afternoon we went to R111 centre to set up for tomorrow’s event. The room we are in is fab; Mary and Margaret helped me set up and my driver was my neighbour Jim. His granddaughter Keira, aged 10, was a great help. I am thinking of recruiting her!
August 23, 2014 at 5:38 am #2970Ooooh Offcuts! The time has come and good for Jim and Keira. I hope it goes well today – the sun shines and the crowds turn up and everyone has fun and goes away smiling and wiser. And Good For You you wonder woman!
