We had a great afternoon morsbagging at WI House in Leicester. Members were invited from all the Leicestershire pods. Without much ado they all fell into place stripping curtains, cutting out bags, the ironing bit and sewing. Twelve bags were made and hopefully they will be setting up their own pod soon. Here are the pics
December 4, 2013 at 10:05 pm #1113That’s nice Offcuts!! Don’t your local WI have a super venue! 🙂 Love those yellow walls and golden leaves outside 🙂 as well as the crowds of industrious ladies inside, sewing like troupers!! 😀

December 4, 2013 at 10:11 pm #1115I agree Beattie, it all looks very industrious, and a wonderful room. I think I would spend my time looking at the beautiful trees through the window.
December 11, 2013 at 12:45 am #1327I received a lovely email today
Following 3 of us attending your Morsbag making session at WI house, we discussed it at our committee meeting and decided we would become a pod and have just registered.
We are going to start by meeting in a members house early in the new year, who has two sewing machines and her daughter makes soft furnishings so may be able to supply us with off cuts. Is it possible we could have some more labels to help get us started?
Many thanks

They have registered as Whisseybags! Great name! Leicestershire labels are currently sponsored by Leicester Host Lions so I shall be sending them some in the post. Here is a photo of Whisseybags!December 11, 2013 at 4:40 pm #1335Welcome Whisseybags!! 😀 Sounds like you’ll be getting off to a flying start in the new year.
One tip – if the kind soft furnishings-making daughter supplies you with rather thick upholstery fabric you CAN make bags with it, but will get on best if you use thinner fabric (like sheeting, thin cotton curtains etc) for the handles. When you are sewing the handles into the upright position there are places where you are sewing through 11 thicknesses of fabric and if they’re all thick upholstery stuff your sewing machines will struggle and break lots of needles.
Happy bagging!!
December 11, 2013 at 7:58 pm #1339Well done Offcuts! Greetings to Whisseybags!

Kind regardsDecember 12, 2013 at 9:37 am #1345Whisseybags are listed in the pod list – I sorted it alphabetically by clicking on the arrow next to the “pod name” header on the table, and on the map too. Let us know how you get on 😀
Correction – it’s spelled “Whissybags” 😉

December 12, 2013 at 2:12 pm #1348Beattie, I can’t see an arrow next to the pod name header.
December 13, 2013 at 12:17 am #1352If I click on “pod name” and wait, it turns blue and there’s a small downward pointing arrow to the right of it. I wonder if I see it differently as I’m a moderator? (Superpowers…..?) Try it and see what happens?
December 13, 2013 at 1:48 am #1354Yes it worked. Thank you Beattie 🙂
December 13, 2013 at 9:29 am #1358Mo problem! I’m glad it worked!:D
