How many morsbags do I have to make before I stop wanting to keep them for myself?
Since hearing about morsbags in April, and setting up my solo pod in June, I’ve made about 50 bags – but only managed to give away 40!
The first ones I liked and wanted to keep (at least one example of each) because of an irrational/sentimental attachment to the fabric used (don’t judge). The later ones (inspired by a visit to the Flickr site and the wonderful bags on show) have become more creative and take more time, and sometimes I am so pleased with the result I don’t want to give it away. Help! Is it just me? 😳
But it is a wonderful cause, I really enjoy making the bags, I’ve rediscovered my love of sewing – and I’ve never had so much free space in my airing cupboard. Win-win.

I’ve been making bags since 2007 and have made literally thousands, but I still fall in love with the odd one! Only last week I made a bitsa bag (made of bits and pieces) and found it liked it too much to part with it.
I have another bag made out of my sister in law’s old curtains that I love. The fabric is rather fragile (I think the light has attacked the fibres) but I keep on patching it on the inside – couldn’t throw it away – or even give it away. 😳
Maybe find some material you like less and it’ll be easier to hand them out to people.

Several times people have come to visit and on the way out, seeing the bags, ask if they can have one and then, blow me, if they don’t take my current favourite. I use a couple of favourites all the time, one made by Offcuts, and one made out of ancient curtains that I made when we first got married 50 years ago. But that doesn’t stop me having a few favourites in my give away pile which I somehow never give away until forced by a request.
October 12, 2015 at 3:30 am #4983At our recent event at Visit Leicester Sue and I went for lunch, she had the sense to take her beloved KR!!! bag. When we were returning by pure luck I saw lady with my sock bag. We ran over to her and said there’s been a mistake that bag is display only; it was in the window! Luckily she was very understanding and gave it back! If it had gone I would have been philosophical about it.
Beattie you once said to me you must be prepared to give away every morsbag even if they are on display!
October 12, 2015 at 9:23 am #4984Thank goodness she was prepared to do a swap!! Took me a while to get what KR!!! was = I assume it’s King Richard the Third? Don’t tell me Sue gave her that one to get your sock bag back?
I still love the sock bag – what a great use for all those odd socks 😀
