Happy New Year Morsbaggers! Sorry I’m a bit slow getting these figures out, we’ve had a busy few weeks, as have most of us, I guess. I hope you enjoyed a delightful Christmas, I was very surprised to see how many bags were made over the holiday season.

1973 bags were made worldwide in December 2017 by 36 active pods.

As always, I’m extra impressed by pods who join up and get started with no shilly-shallying, kudos to you if you appear in both lists!

    Interesting comments

Here’s an interesting comment from Bladen Bags –
“2 sisters sewing in memory of our Mum who taught dressmaking, plus a couple of neighbours who love sewing. This is part of a journey towards ‘zero waste’ living; and we are starting by making re-usable Christmas bags for presents instead of using wrapping paper which is just discarded. Thank you for the inspiration.”

Ellabee’s is “Housebound, so looking for people to join me at home. Teaching folks to use a sewing machine by making Morsbags, and welcome experienced users too.”

Well done everyone, let’s make even more bags in 2018 😀

Two of us for ten years v dozens of you for two? (my estimates). No contest, not worried, it was inevitable.

List order is random, I’m so glad it pleases you to be at the top of it this time.

well it’s nice for my pod to see this list – making morsbags is not competitive, so this and the pod table just adds interest. I think we have only about a maximum of up to about 8 people who make bags regularly, with occasional bags from others. We’re helped by having gained a really prolific bagmaker, and us regulars just keep going. I sometimes go amonth without making any, if we’re away so we just make when we can.

Hi Morsbag peeps, Trish here from a little hamlet in South Warwickshire. I’ve just set myself up as a solo podder (for now anyway!).

I read about Morsbags last year, made about 12 then didn’t get round to setting up a pod. Last Tuesday I got together with 4 pals and our sewing machines on a cold wintry night and we made a bag each. This prompted me to crack on with the admin so now I’m the proud founder of ‘Faire Des Sacs’ which will operate from Toulouse Cottage in South Warwickshire.

This week I have posted a bag to a friend in Cheshire and will hand over 2 more to dinner party guests this evening. We have our WI Community Coffee Mornings in this village on the first Saturday of the month so in Feb, I’ll grab a table and see how many folks I can ‘make their day with a Morsbag’

Making Morsbags to eradicate plastic ones is the best new year resolution you can make.

Sorry I’ve only just seen your post Trish!

Congratulations on setting up your pod. What a lot you’ve accomplished already 😀

Happy sewing and good luck with the handout in February – what a bit of luck that the date coincides with the WI Coffee Morning alreay organised.

    Hi Trish

I am Rosie and my pod, Offcuts is in south leicestershire. You might be able to answer something! Were you morsbagging at Fargo Village in Coventry today? My friend and morsbagger sarah Wale has a vintage business and has a stall at Fargo sometimes. She spotted morsbags were there and we were trying to work out which pod it was. So is it you? We said we would come over and sew with you if you were there another time.

Also we shall have a morsbag stall at Kirstie’s Handmade Fair at Ragley Hall in May if you were interested in joining us. We did it last year and it was a great success. Are you on Facebook? Morsbags has several pages on there. Ours is morsbags.com Leicestershire.
