Hi,
I sew across the corners at the bottom of the bags this creates a flat bottom, making it easier to pack the bag with things like bottles and boxes.
I love it when i’m in a shop and they ask if I want a bag, then I get talking to the assistant, sometimes they’re really enthusiastic and say yes I agree plastic bags are really bad for the enviroment………… then I wip the extra bag out that i’m carrying and give it to them. Its nice to see the expression on their face, should I pay for it? noooo just pass the message on.
June 6, 2015 at 11:02 pm #4488Hi Janice! Your story about bagging shop assistants made me laugh – I must try popping an extra (new) bag in my pocket to bring out after the same conversation – all my “own use” bags are a bit grubby with lots of use.
I’ve tried sewing across the corners (Boxing the corners) but found the bottom of the bag just sagged out from between the corners. 😕 Perhaps I haven’t been doing it right.
June 7, 2015 at 1:16 pm #4489I can;t explain how i do it, maybe it does sag a bit, do you know i can post a foto to you see if you r doing the same as me

June 7, 2015 at 1:23 pm #4490Hi I’ve added fotos to the gallery, let me know if its any different from what you are doing
June 7, 2015 at 4:07 pm #4491Where did you post the photos Janice?
I’ve had another look at the gallery on this website which appears via flickr.com. There are over 3000 photos in it, so I’ve looked for the most recent. Sorry, can’t find them. Then I wondered if you’d added to a facebook page’s gallery, but can’t find them there either. I looked on https://www.facebook.com/morsbags/photos_stream?ref=page_internal
and https://www.facebook.com/pages/morsbagscom-Leicestershire/245913008776826I know Bude Baggers have a facebook page too, but I think it’s set to private as I can’t look at that one.
When I tried it out I think I just sewed a diagonal line across the bottom corners with the bag inside out. Maybe my fabric was a bit washed out and floppy. I remember helping people sew morsbags at a craft event several years ago when one person started a fashion for making box-bottomed bags and lots of others copied them. 😀 They make a nice alternative.
June 7, 2015 at 6:15 pm #4493Hi think i’ve done it, they’re on flick under jans morsbags
June 8, 2015 at 1:53 pm #4496I’ve tried searching for “jans morsbags” and got every morsbag ever uploaded in January! None with boxed corners though. 😕
You could paste the address of the photos in your next post and then we should be able to see the photos here in your post.
June 8, 2015 at 1:56 pm #4497July 12, 2015 at 6:37 pm #4627hi,
sorry for the delay, had lots of things to sort out, yes made out of 2 pieces of fabric, i use mostly nylon fabric, luckily I was given a huge load of fabric that would be suitable for clothes soooo just perfect for morsbags and yes i’m icejan
how are u getting on with ur morsbags?July 12, 2015 at 7:54 pm #4628I’m pleased you’ve got lots of suitable fabric Janice. I like the brown and blue colours of the bag you photographed above. I’ll bet the nylon material scrunches up nice and small for pockets or handbags. 😀
In January I decided to try to make at least one bag a day this year, except if we’re away on holiday. I’ve more or less kept to that and only missed a few days so far through being too busy or too tired to make any.
We’ll be doing quite a big handout at the end of July when we go to a vintage vehicles rally and invite people to make themselves a bag on our hand crank machines. People who don’t want to, or don’t want to wait (as a queue tends to build up) will get a pre-made morsbag.
July 13, 2015 at 12:53 am #4633I have 2 people in my pod who bag the cashiers. One is my mother in law before I did her supermarket shopping. The other is my neighbour Jim who is very proud to have guerilla bagged all the staff in our local Sainsburys. I think they dish out so many hundreds of plastic bags that they think about all the damage caused by them.
Beattie, do you remember when I added a morsbag to a display about their different re-usable bags which all had the prices on. I put a FREE post-it on the bag! It was there for 4 days!!
July 13, 2015 at 9:18 am #4634I remember that 😀 Didn’t it stay on show for a long time?!
July 13, 2015 at 11:25 am #4635At least a week!
