Have lots of people made new morsbagging year resolutions?
Has David Attenborough finally got his message across?
Has Claire’s morsmessage about adding every morsbag made to the tally – they all count, and together they all make a difference – had an impact?Whatever it is, the effect has been amazing! The number of bags made, active pods adding those bags and new pod registrations are all about a third more than previous records.
Total morsbags added to the tally in January = 7821 (Previous record = 5623 in November 2018)
Active pods adding morsbags to tally = 111 (Previous record = 80 in March 2018)

Congratulations to Butterfly Bags who added the bags taking us over 300,000 bags made since morsbags was started in January 2007. The crucial bags were added at 11.24am on 16th January! HOORAY!!
39 new pods registered this month. Welcome!! (Previous record = 29 in April 2016 after Claire Morsman was interviewed on Woman’s Hour on Easter Monday 2016, BBC Radio 4.)

I think this is our first Hungarian pod – The Pod Of Green Tara
“I would like to found more hungarian morsbags-maker :)))”Harborough Hit Bags pod need just 345 more morsbags made to get to 20,000 as their pod tally.
I’m sure they will achieve that next month!February 1, 2019 at 10:04 pm #13534I’ve been checking all day to see if you’ve put this up – so exciting!! Thank you so much for working it all out…. now we just have to see whether February, as a shorter month, can smash it too or whether this one will be a record month for a while! xx
February 1, 2019 at 10:12 pm #13535You make a good point about the next month being shorter, Pol! I’ve noticed an increase in the number of morsbags added to the tally after spikes in new pod registrations.
I think if we keep up the effort there may be an increase in all numbers in March. Getting them in February would be a bonus 🙂
PS, sorry about keeping you on tenterhooks. Our phone line climbs quite a distance through a little wood and the trees have been waving around all day, our broadband coming and going….. 😕
February 2, 2019 at 9:09 am #13538Oooh I was SO CLOSE to adding the bags to push us over the 300k mark – I think my total update took us to 299,998 haha
I was on a push in January to get bags together for a friend who wanted them for her school fair, but she’s got her lot now and I’m still going – much like running down a hill, quite hard to stop once momentum is up!
WELL DONE everyone, 300,000 is huuuuuuuge!
February 2, 2019 at 11:23 am #13541Never mind Dartfrog, it’s a group effort! Everyone who’s ever made a morsbag contributes to the total, so we’re all winners!
I notice that I didn’t give the running total of morsbags ever made in my stats! At the end of January the global total stood at 306019! WOW!
February 4, 2019 at 5:51 am #13602Absolutely it is a group effort, and we should all be both delighted and excited (and perhaps inspired!)
February 6, 2019 at 4:25 pm #13901And it also shows how important it is for people to register their pod and put their bag numbers on their tallies. Then everyone is part of this amazing campaign. Rosiex
February 7, 2019 at 8:40 pm #13971What an awesome total for January! I love the thought of all 300,000 morsbags out there being used! Every single one of them has made a difference.
